Holland College has achieved a significant milestone by securing the 12th position in Research Infosource Inc.’s 2025 ranking of Canada’s Top 50 Research Colleges. This marks an impressive jump of 30 places compared to last year, highlighting the college’s rapid growth in applied research and innovation.
Strong Research Performance in 2024
In 2024, Holland College successfully completed 131 applied research projects and built 65 active research partnerships. These projects were carried out across several specialized research centres, including:
- Canada’s Smartest Kitchen
- Applied Biotechnology Research Centre
- Business Analytics Centre
In addition, the college collaborated with multiple academic departments, ensuring that research activities remained closely connected to real-world industry needs.

Expansion of Research Capacity and Public Safety Focus
Holland College President and CEO Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald confirmed that the college is preparing to further expand its research capabilities. This growth will be supported by the upcoming opening of the Atlantic Tactical Training & Innovation Centre at the Atlantic Police Academy.
This state-of-the-art facility will enable the launch of a new public safety research program, strengthening partnerships and advancing innovation in tactical training and applied security research.
